Matt Egbert, LPC
I firmly believe that there is no such thing as normal. I’ve certainly never met anyone normal. I believe that our uniqueness is what makes people all so interesting. In therapy, I have the opportunity to help others appreciate and work with themselves, rather than against themselves. I think figuring yourself out is one of the greatest joys in life.
I specialize in working with kids and teens, especially those with neurodivergence (ADHD or Autism.) I have a knack for helping people who have issues establishing relationships, or anyone who has trouble communicating with others. People who aren’t sure about therapy, or anyone who claims they “don’t like people” seem to have an easy time connecting in my office.
I approach everything from a Person-Centered, Trauma-informed lens, and have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT). My work is informed by principles from both Family Systems and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I received my bachelors degree and my masters from Lincoln Christian University, in central Illinois. I have significant experience in social work with the Illinois foster care system, and have spent the past several years working as a Crisis Therapist, responding to children and families in emergency situations. I’m currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with plans to move up to a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) within the year.
In my free time, I am a nerd, in many senses of the word. I enjoy games of all sorts; video games, tabletop games, and RPGs, to name a few. I am fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family who love laughter and silliness. I like cooking, telling stories, and playing with my ever growing collection of fidget toys.
