Stacy brown, LCPC

As a therapist of over 25 years, it is my belief that everyone can benefit from therapy services and just reaching out is the first (and most difficult) step! I believe in a client-centered approach and meeting people where they are by utilizing evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused Therapy as well as coping management skills, self-care and emotional well-being techniques. I enjoy working with individuals aged 11+, experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, helping people to realize their strengths in a safe and collaborative environment.

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Monmouth College and then my master’s degree in human development counseling from Bradley University. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois (LCPC) as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida (LMHC). Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, couples and families, throughout the lifespan, experiencing various challenges. My experiences have varied from outpatient individual therapy to work in community behavioral health, employee assistance programs, child welfare and corrections. I am also a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer in Adult, Youth and Teen, helping groups and communities understand the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of behavioral health issues and how to intervene and assist others in the safest way to ensure people receive the assistance they need.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, camping, reading and listening to music. I practice self-care by spending time with my family and friends, exercise, meditation, yoga and trying new recipes.
